about

Tribute to some of the greatest people I've met while traveling
Homs is a city in Syria that is completely destroyed at this point
This was written to the people struggling in that war to try and paint some perspective for people on this side of the blood line who are afraid to open up their hearts

lyrics

The widest grin in all Stockholm belongs to Papa J
And if you’re there on a sunny noon you can hear his Djembe play
He comes from the smilin coast
Where wires don’t choke the peoples throats, my
Love goes out to this old man and the rest of the canjam fam

The truest hero I’ve ever know is called Laquit Javed
He spent his childhood buildin bricks in a debt sentenced homestead
He was the only one in his family
Allowed to go to school
Now he educated little slave children
This man is the golden rule

But there are no homes in Homs
That’s what Yara said
There are no homes in Homs
She chuckled as she broke some bread
To share breakfast with me as she explained how
She fled to Damascus for safety but
The war it followed her there to
She had to leave he sisters probably younger than you because
There are no homes in Homs anymore
It’s just rubble on the floor
There are homes in Homes anymore so
When you talk about some people watch your tongue be sure
